“Cass - Patterson N.J.” Unidentified but he is a Lt, 1st or 2nd, by the bar on his cap. Research through the entire 29thDiv MRs for "Cass" or similar like Cassidy, Cassell, etc has drawn a blank. Even sorted by rank and went through all the 1st and 2nd Lts in 1Bn, and very other Battalion. No Lt. that the name could be construed to be "Cass".
“Zapp - Captain Ettore V. Zappacosta, Commanding Officer of Company B, 116th. On 9 June 44 he was listed “fr dy to MIA 6 June”, and on 15 Oct 44 “fr MIA to KIA 6 June”.
"Aenchy" My father's handwriting is often illegible - probably meant "Andy" - looks like guy in photo above. I think this is 1st Lt. Alfred S. Anderson, Company A, 116th. “6-Jun-44 fr dy to KIA”

The following photographs were taken in France 1944
"E.O. Henry, 1st Sargent" . I believe that is a misspelling and this is 1st Sgt. Edwin O. Hering, who also appears on the Kilmer roster in the Headquarters Platoon. Last entry in Morning Reports is 9-Apr-45 "fr dy to TDY at Ground Force Reinf Cmd".
(note the hobnails in his boots which a lot of 29ers did on arriving in the UK)
The caption says "Krat**? Harrisonburg, VA" , so I am fairly sure it is Weldon L Kratzer, Staff Sergeant, who also in on the Kilmer roster. Morning Reports has him "fr dy to hosp SWA" 30-Jul-44 and then on 1-Aug-44 "fr hosp to dropped fr rolls". SWA means Seriously Wounded in Action (believed life-threatening). So that supports the idea these photos occurred right after DDay.
